Woman receiving botulinum toxin injection for dynamic wrinkles at a medical aesthetic clinic in Montreal

Botulinum Toxin Type A (commonly known by the brand name Botox®) is a neuromodulator used in aesthetic medicine to temporarily reduce the appearance of dynamic wrinkles. It works by inhibiting muscle contractions in targeted areas, which can soften facial lines associated with repeated expressions.

Commonly treated areas include the forehead, glabellar lines (between the eyebrows), and lateral canthal lines (commonly referred to as “crow’s feet”). Effects typically become noticeable within 2 to 10 days and may last between 3 to 6 months.

The procedure is minimally invasive, does not require general anesthesia, and is typically completed in under an hour. It is considered a widely used non-surgical technique for facial rejuvenation.

What can botulinum toxin be used for?

Botulinum toxin may be used in medical aesthetic treatments to help soften the appearance of dynamic facial wrinkles caused by muscle movement. After a personalized medical consultation, it may be considered for areas such as:

  • Forehead lines

  • Frown lines between the eyebrows

  • Crow’s feet around the eyes

  • Eyebrow lifting effect

  • Excessive sweating, also called hyperhidrosis

A medical consultation is required before treatment to assess suitability, expectations, contraindications, risks, and appropriate treatment options. Results may vary from one patient to another.
